Only Ok. Middle of the road in all things for me. Expected more for the price and location. Good wine selection.

Coffee was burnt plus the cutlery was dirty. Was OK but there are definitely better places to go

Great food, great ambience, excellent staff. We never ate anywhere else the 2 days we were here.

Went to Mecca for a family dinner. Enjoyed the salt and pepper squid as a starter. Didn’t have to wait very long for our mains. I had the salmon which was cooked to perfection. Would definitely go back.

Excellent food that is worth the wait(it took approximately 30 minutes for the food to come, after ordering). Every item on every plate was delicious — my family and I tried lamb, salmon, a seafood platter, and duck breast. One exception is that the fat on the duck breast became chewy(but the flavour was still delicious).

Nice location but coffee just came out with dirty saucer. My friends teapot and cup were dirty too. Plates were cold. Not good for eggs. Spinach was raw on eggs Benedict. Coffee was nice. Service was great. Toilets are disgusting and no paper

We headed to Mecca for dinner on a Saturday night. To be honest, it was our third choice, after the first choice was closed, and the second one informed us of an hour long wait! But it passed muster. Be aware that you will pay Viaduct prices for your meals. Because of this we decided to forgo entrees and just have mains. We were all pretty happy with our meals: a generous Lamb shank served with creamy mash, Crispy Pork Belly with kumara, rustic apple sauce & mushroom jus, and a huge & interesting fish dish: described on the menu as Oven Baked Hapuka, julienne of vegetables, baby potatoes, tomatoes, garlic, fresh herbs & a hint of chilli, topped with puff pastry. It came to the table served in a pie dish as big as your head! And under the crispy pastry, the fish was arranged like a restaurant plate! Curious, but tasty. The tiramisu fiend couldn’t leave without sampling Mecca’s version — we all had to «help out» and agreed it was pretty authentic & soaked with a delicious alcoholic sauce. Yum. The ambience is pretty average. You’re squirrelled away under a zipped up canopy to keep the warmth in, but it can’t disguise the fact that you are still eating al fresco, on outdoor chairs & tables. The waitstaff, although pleasant enough and helpful, were young & seemed to be backpackers, with several different accents between them! All-in-all, Mecca served it’s purpose & we all had an enjoyable, if fairly standard, dinner. I wouldn’t rush back, just because it has no real point of difference, but I would be happy to end up here again if the occasion arose.

Picturesque location right in the corner of Viaduct Harbour makes Mecca a place to be seen. On a sunny day it’s a great place to kick back and relax. It feels like its a restaurant more than anything but they always seem happy to just let you order coffee. The food is good, well breakfast is anyway, have never had dinner here before. The food pricing is towards the upper end of the scale, but that’s the price to pay to eat in such a nice place. My particular favourite for breakfast is the honey glazed french toast — it’s definately not good for your waist line, but your taste buds will love you forever.

Mecca Viaduct is in such a perfect location, is open all the time and serves decent portion sizes of good food, alcohol and coffee. That is all in it’s favour. I had a recent experience here of waiting close to an hour for coffees, however. They couldn’t help that their machine broke down, I get it, but they could have told us when we ordered coffee that there was a problem and we would have to wait. I was just joining friends who were brunching for a «quick» coffee and then heading off, but the meals were ordered, served and devoured with time to spare before my coffee arrived. Annoying.
