It’s a sports bar. With a pretty interesting menu. I’ve been here a couple of times, both after a flight from Sydney, so it’s become a bit of a tradition to come here after landing. I always stay at the Hilton just up the road, so easily walkable. Range of beers with some local gems. I’ve had the burger both times, and it’s first rate. Doesn’t have the overwhelming presence of TVs like you’d find in an American sports bar, but that’s probably a good thing.

This place is everything a sports pub should be. I went here for some early morning Champions League football and this pub delivered. The place was enormous and clean. It sported what seemed like an endless amount of chairs, tables, couches, loungers, and most importantly, televisions. There was not a bad seat in the bar which is good because the building got really crowded as the game played on. The service was good enough, I give them credit because the game was being shown the morning after St. Patrick’s Day. That takes a lot of commitment to serve food and drinks almost all night and the next day. The coffee was decent and the beer was tall and cold. I found it quite shocking(in a good way) that the toilets were as clean as they were the morning after St. Patrick’s Day. I was expecting to walk through vomit and other bodily fluids as I entered the facility. This was a nice touch. Overall, this sports pub was everything I ever wanted in a sports pub. Comfy seats, cold beer, large televisions, and an extremely clean venue. I was very happy to watch a game here.

If you are seeking your American Football with a side of friendly and good bar food you have found your home. If its on, but not on the screen — just ask them and they will accommodate your wishes. Best way to start a trip to Auckland, even if the Eagles tanked…

Great place to watch a game or multiple games of sport as it has tv screens everywhere displaying sport only. Tucked away in the corner of the viaduct it misses most of the sunlight and is quite dark inside. I hear it gets a bit ruckus on weekend nights too. Great spot for a brief afternoon catch up

If you’re looking for a bar where a few mates can enjoy a cold one and good conversation, all while catching up on the Super Rugby series, then Fox’s Ale House is it… This bar rocks! And as the conversation gets louder, the buzz seems to take your excitement to a new level. The Viaduct offers a wide range of bars that cater to all needs and wants, and Fox’s Ale House caters to men who know what they want, and when they want it. This is not a heavy drinkers bar, this is aimed at the man with style. And in case you were wondering, ladies are more than welcome to join the boys for a fun night out, however they are in the minority.

Little place snuck into the corner of the Viaduct, Fox’s is a little break from your average viaduct«In» crowd bar. A nice place to chill out and enjoy some afternoon sun with some reasonably priced(For the Viaduct) drinks, but when this place really comes into it’s own is when the rugby’s on. If you’re lucky enough to be able to get in, the atmosphere for watching sports is second to none. Multiple flatscreen tv’s means you can catch the action no matter where you are in the place, and when your team scores, watch your eardrums!

This is by far my favourite sports bar in the city. Really good atmosphere when there’s a major game on, and with TV’s all over the place it is more than likely that they will be playing whatever sport you are into. During major events like the football and rugby world cups this place gets seriously busy attracting a wide variety of ethnicities. It’s such a great experience to hear foreign chants and songs, as well as the odd bit of banter and patriotic rivalry. The only problem is that you have to get in early when a big match is on because this bar fills up fast. On quieter days Fox’s is a nice place to hang out, with a couple of pool tables, a TAB machine where you can place a bet on sports/races, and an outside area which looks out onto the viaduct.
