Yeahhh boy! This is the home of drunken takeaways on k rd. Delish kebabs in awesome bread, rather than just wraps. Pretty awesome pizzas too, wood fired I highly recommend this spot over the local competition. And generally a pretty friendly crew. They even made a full vegan pizza for a friend of mine. And when they messed it up, they made her a new one. Win win win.

I have been coming here for years and it is still good. Was trying to decide where to get vegetarian food and decided a falafel in this place would be more fun than a salad at the nearby Tank. Verona had stopped serving lunch at 3 pm. So Little Turkish Café was the winner. We didn’t regret our choice. Fun atmosphere.

Nice little place. We came on monday labour day n was happy to see it open. They had signs up say $ 10 shisha but they said that offer wasnt valid? It ended up being $ 20. Got a latte, green tea and flat white which all came out well after the other and they even forgot our order of chips. We also initially wanted woodfired pizza but they said they were cleaning it out l… i gave it a 3 just because its a nice casual place to hang out but not for the service. They also serve alcohol but being labour day we couldnt get a beer.

I’m almost positive I came here before AND after a show at Rising Sun. Is it bad that I don’t remember? Haha. BF got a lovely apartment hotel at Waldorf St. Martins when I went to visit last year. Passed by and had a quick bite before going to Ritual/36 Deep gig. Very good falafel wrap. For some reason, I also think I had Sal’s pizza. Is there one nearby? Haha. I’m convinced this place is good because even if I am inebriated, I know what shitty food tastes like. I have this little devil inside me saying, «this food is shit, you’re just drunk» each time I eat and I am «not myself». LOL.

Came in here a few times during a very short trip because it was THAT good! If you need some drunk food or a nice lunch while walking around the city this place is great! Try the lamb… obviously.

First off Little Turkish Café gets an extra star for actually being open for business at 1am in the morning. This is K’Rd, the drunk, the bad and the ugly are out stumbling around the streets and despite the shifty looking guys smoking Turkish tea outside seemed like a viable option the other night, and it was. The staff are nice and while the food is not fast, it is good. There is a Korean guy who does the Italians proud, making pretty decent pizzas all night and into the early hours of the morning. They even have the wood fire oven. Little Turkish Café is a cool place to just sit and hang out with friends. Certificates on the wall assured us that Little Turkish Café are licensed to serve alcohol, have met health and safety standards and have an A rating. So if you’re on K’Rd and you’re hungry, thirsty or in the mood for watching video clips from the 90’s Little Turkish Café is the place to be.

Everyone talks about how good this place is late at night when you’re drunk. This is true, but it’s an incomplete picture. This place also comes into its own the day after. This is good hangover food. Chips: fat and salt, plus whatever that delicious seasoning is, all help with a hangover. So does the meat and bread combination in a kebab, and the salads will help you psychologically by making you think they’ll cancel out some of the poisons you ingested the night before. Also, there’s the shisha. As a non-smoker I can’t comment firsthand, but I have it on good authority that a cigarette is a bit of a lifesaver for a smoker who’s under the weather. Well imagine if that cigarette was being pumped through an enormous pipe, and was strawberry flavoured? That’s almost certainly better. Finally: hair of the dog. You can have a beer with your kebab. If that doesn’t fix you, nothing will.

If you have ever seen someone who is unconscious but still managing to eat a kebab, it probably was here. When did Kebabs become the ubiquitous drunk food? Whatever happened to pies? I guess they have the semblance of being healthier, but most of the salad ends up spilled all over the table anyway. Little Turkish has been a staple of K Road for a wee while — it’s where 15 year olds go to smoke shisha, who then start smoking cigarettes and having illicit drinks, untill they too are the ones who end up slumped on a table shovelling what used to be a lamb in their mouth. Little Turkish also offer a selection of other foods — the classic hot chips, mini pizzas, turkish sweets. Worth a munch regardless of the time of night — it could even make a good pre-drink dinner.

I honestly can’t think of a time I’ve been at Little Turkish Café before midnight, and I’m sure I’m not the only one. Little Turks is the kind of place you head after Whammy shows have finished for the night and you’re considering getting a very expensive and kind of dodgy taxi ride home. The little pizza breads are really delicious — I recommend the spinach and feta. The chips are really generously seasoned and generally snapped up really really quickly. With the healing powers of fat and salt, they’re the perfect antidote to a night of hard partying.

The kebabs are good and so are the fries. I’ve never tried a pizza from here but I would say it is probably also good, based on the fact that the guy next to me ordered one and inhaled it. Everything is okay, but what makes the Little Turkish Café really special, is the fact that it’s open super late. If you’re hungry(and maybe drunk) on a Friday night and you don’t feel like doing the taxi drive through McDonalds’ DriveThru, this is where you should go. I feel like I’m being a little harsh. The kebabs are actually really good, and the guy behind the counter always obliges me when I tell him I absolutely CANNOT have anything with tomato in my kebab, ANDTHATINCLUDESTABBOULEHANDTOMATOSAUCE. There’s something special to say about someone who will be so accommodating to an eating freak like me.

Jesus. Can’t believe I’m the first to review this place. It’s a wee ripper. Back story: I am from Christchurch and so I was blessed with an upbringing so stacked with absurdly delicious souvlakis. When I moved to Auckland, I discovered that they don’t really have souvlakis up here. They just have kebabs, which for the most part are utterly macabre. I was pretty bummed. Then I got taken to the Little Turkish Café. Oh yes. They make good kebab thing. It’s all in the bread. God they have great bread! Their kebabs are sensational. Other great aspects of the Little Turkish experience: 1. How surly the(assumedly) Turkish guy who seems to be in charge is. Such an angry dude. 2. The music videos they play(K.D. LANGBABY). 3. The chippies are pretty great. Loses a point because they only sell coke zero in glass bottles(cans are the way) and also I think shisha is the dumbest shit of all time.
