Saika Japanese Takeaway

Great place for casual meal. A white board shows a ranking the monthly customer meal popularity. One of my favourite places for Japanese curry. Most meals can come in multiple sizes and portions are quite large. I found I couldn’t quite finish a regular size curry.

Have been here before a few times and if we had to pick a decent low key Japanese place this would be one of them. The price is not too bad, the service is friendly, they always say thank you and goodbye when you leave. You can pay by eftpos or cash, but no credit card and you must pay before your meal.
They have all the usual Donburi with rice, Noodles in soup, Sushi rolls, Sashimi Don, Curry and rice, set menus of seafood set or pork set or chicken set, a special set which is of the chefs choosing, sides and extra toppings. Sides could be sashimi, tofu salad, prawn Gyoza, edamame, wakame seaweed and more. I had the pork katsu Don with side of potato croquettes. Delicious.
They have help yourself water, hot and cold. And if it’s your birthday make sure you bring
along some proof of d.o.b. id and you will get a free ice cream with your mains order!!.

I was pleasantly surprised with the Japanese food here in Auckland CBD area. The service was friendly and prompt — ordering food can be done at the front counter. They have complementary tea and water which is always a nice touch seeing as how it’s all self serve. The food comes rather quickly and is a nice place to have a casual meal. Also I have to say that the prices are very reasonable given the location right in the city.
