This is a nice spot, serving inexpensive breakfast and coffee in old San Juan. There is an endless list of coffee drinks and other caffeinated concoctions. The drink menu was several pages long. I had the Mallorca sandwich with ham and cheese which was a steal at $ 5. It was huge and served with a side of fried potatoes. The Mallorca bun was sweet, fluffy, and covered in powdered sugar. The sandwich had a vague chemical taste, I think from the ham– so that was kind of off-putting. The potatoes were really good. They existed somewhere in the realm between a home fry and a potato chip. The guava dipping sauce that accompanied everything was fantástico! I also got a cinnamon bun frozen latte. It was like dessert in a cup. Very good and very large– I couldn’t even finish it.

One of the best cesar salad I’ve ever had. Cozy place. Good service. Great menu with a lot of variety. I was impressed with the amount of choices for such a small place. I didn’t have the chance to try out their drinks but they sounded amazing.

Finally something actually Puerto Rican in Puerto Rico… about a couple of blocks from the beach — everyone here was PuertoRican(not sure if the wait staff spoke English) — simple breakfast but the atmosphere was authentic and the food was fairly priced. I wished I found this place earlier to get a glimpse of real PR culture and people.

I decided to come here because I wanted coffee and breakfast and it seemed like not many other places were open on a Monday at 8 a.m. When I walked in it was extremely dark, which unfortunately is very common in Old San Juan. I decided to sit at the bar because that is where the most lighting was even though it was still dim. For my drink, I ordered the White Chocolate Latte(With Whipped Cream) for $ 3.75 which tasted horrible. It didn’t even taste like espresso even though that’s what apparently it was made with. It also was covered in overly sweet Monin brand syrup. What a disappointment. For my breakfast, I ordered the Criollo with swiss cheese, an egg, and with no meat. I always get annoyed when I have to specify no meat since I usually end up paying the same price for the meat I ask them to leave off. Fortunately, when my Criollo came out though it was good and to my pleasant surprise it came with these potatoes that were absolutely delicious. These potatoes were so good that I’ll make this review three stars instead of two. And the bathroom… I have seen major issues with the bathrooms of at least 30−50% of the places I have visited in Old San Juan and this place is no different. There was zero toilet paper in any of the stalls and no paper towels in the towel dispenser. All that was in there was a half used roll of paper towels sitting on top of the sink. It was clear that keeping the bathroom well stocked and comfortable was not a priority for this place. Absolutely do not come here for the coffee. And if you decide to come for breakfast, make sure you use the bathroom elsewhere first.

Closed on Saturday. Nice, chill atmosphere. Great coffee and can’t beat the price and quality of food. I had the ultimate omelet and a latte. We will definitely be back!

Great mom & pop café with tasty local cuisine and good coffee. The Mallorca sandwich is delicious, but they have a large lunch menu. They also have a huge drink menu with smoothies and special coffee drinks. They make everything fresh so it can take a long time to get your food. Everyone is very friendly and helpful and the ambience is really cute! The only complaint is that the bathroom was in bad shape and did not have a changing table, or toilet paper actually. The Unilocal map is off even though the address is correct. Just use Google maps.

Had the most friendliest employees, GREAT service, and the food was absolutely delicious! There was a great variety of food from salads, to wraps, to soups, and burgers, and Mexican. They also had all sorts of coffee, smoothies, Italian sodas, and green tea and the flavors were great. I recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Old Juan, Puerto Rico.

When we go to a different place/country we always try to find a local place to eat. On our adventure to Old San Juan, Puerto Rico we found this GREAT little place called«Aromas». Great local food and local people. It is worth your time to try it.

Wonderful food and wonderful service. Prices are incredible, and after you try their mamposteao you’ll want to go there every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

What a treasure! We found another Aromas on Unilocal and although the directions were a few blocks off(PR doesn’t believe in properly labeling streets and somehow, all of our map apps got it wrong), we drove around until we found it. We enjoyed a very tasty and inexpensive lunch there, so it just made sense when we were in San Juan a couple of days later to try it for breakfast. Same great service, different but great building, and wonderful food and drinks for a totally reasonable price. Must trys: –Signature latte –Hot chocolate –Cinnamon french toast

Had the pork meal. by tasty. Also fruit smoothie. Walked in and there was no wait. I was actually looking for another restaurant but found out that they changed name(?). My meal was very well cooked. I also enjoyed my fruit smoothie which didn’t have an artificial taste to it. The place seem to be popular with local business crowd.

Went to Aromas on a Sunday morning based on Unilocal review. Hands down, one of the best experiences we had in Puerto Rico. The décor and ambience is equal parts relaxing and classy, and who can beat a coffee menu that looks more like a dissertation? My friends ordered breakfast sandwiches(Mallorca and criollo); I went with the fruit crowned(strawberries, mango, pineapple) cinnamon French toast. All three dishes were outstanding, and our coffee drinks hit the spot. To top it all off, with two servers out sick and broken a/c in the back of the café, our server Eddie was still able to serve us with a smile. And honestly, you can’t beat a café where the owner is the one hand mixing your drinks in the back and happily takes a picture of your dining group, claiming it would be «an honor». Two thumbs up, five stars, not to be missed despite the understated exterior.

After having a wonderful first experience on memorial day I anxiously wanted to revisit this establishment… What a mistake! 1.5 hours after order and seeing several other people get their food ahead of my table(6 people) the food finally arrived with no no explanation or apology! WTF! After all that there was a gray hair in mouth when I chomped into to soggy sandwich… Tried complaining to the young manager(the guy who got the glowing review during my last visit) and suddenly«No comprendes Inglis!» Got spoken to by the server who claimed that it wasn’t his fault and whole conversation led into a big argument that got lost in the translation. After spending the morning pining for this place I ended up being spoken down to and still hungry! Where’s the nearest KFC?

This is where we stopped for Chicano’s… Not the coffee stop… This placed rocked with a local adult beverage & the chicken! Killer first stop on the tour… We even wanted to go back and give it another try, but we just didnt have the time. I will be back.

Our best coffee experience in PR yet. Stopped in for lunch as we walked around OSJ. The café con leche was so good that I had two! My bf, more of a coffee snob, had a quad latte, and enjoyed it so much that he had the affogato and a solo espresso for dessert. We even bought a pound of Puerto Rican coffee beans to take back to NY with us. Lunch was ok. We shared the Puerto Rican sampler appetizer, of which the shining star was the mini pinones… so delicious! He had a bacon cheeseburger and I had a cubano sandwich. For dessert, I had the chocolate lava cake a la mode. It was moist and I enjoyed it even though I would have preferred flan over chocolate. For a bakery, their dessert case could use a little plumping up. However, the little oval shortbread and caramel cookies that are served with the coffee drinks were so delicious and fresh that I would have been delighted to just have those for dessert. The servers were very friendly, even though we appeared to be the only tourists in the place. The total for lunch including the coffee beans, tax, and tip was $ 68. We will definitely be back before we leave PR.

This place is simply brilliant. The staff are extremely friendly, and even when the place is packed with locals and understaffed, everyone still has a smile. The iced coffee is delicious, and the sandwiches are almost ridiculously good. The secret is whatever mayo they’re using. I wanted to give a standing ovation after I finished my turkey & bacon. One of the few truly unique restaurants in Old San Juan.

Probably the classiest coffee shop I have been to. And honestly it looked more like a swanky lounge than a coffee shop; maybe a little too dark in the morning? At least for me when I need my gallon of coffee to wake up and not immediately fall back in Morpheus’s bulked arms. But really nice nonetheless. I have never seen such a long coffee menu: they have everything you can imagine, and then more. Impressive and a little scary when comes the moment to choose but it’s the kind of challenge I like to take up. I gladly ordered a cappucino and a café con leche for the second round. Good stuff. There is also a breakfast menu; I chose a mallorca(allow me to have my George Clooney/Nespresso moment here — appropriate enough since we are talking coffee — and say: what else?) with ham and cheese. If you ever had a Monte Christo — that was exactly it: sweet, salty and cheesy all at once. Pretty nice but having been incredibly spoiled the day it was hard for anyone else to make me perfectly happy. Service was nice and friendly; quite a few people stopped by when we were inside to pick up a drink but it seems like this place gets busier later in the day. Still, a good address for some mighty(or highly diluted in fat and cream) joe.
