Les 5 Portes

This was my first dinner out in Geneva and so far still one of my favorite meals to date. Started with a negroni then ordered a «salad» — the only salad in this city that I’ve paid close to 30 francs for with great pleasure. This salad came swathed with strips of prosciutto and cradling seared and terrine foie gras. It was every bit as decadent as it sounds, and I dream of it still. One of my friends had schnitzel, which was practically as large as the plate. I can’t recall exactly what dish my other friend ordered but it came with a mahoosive piece of bone barrow, which I promptly stole bites of. We washed all of this incredibly rich fare down with about two bottles of red wine. Bill came to 90 francs apiece, which is not small change but in my view, still the best use of francs in a restaurant here in Geneva. Can’t wait to come back here and try more! (Or just have that salad again — because why mess with a good thing?!)

Great food, and nice service most evenings. Close to the Cornavin train station, and right by the Novotel. This is a nice place to go with friends, and a good place with close work associates. It’s a regular haunt of mine, though I would not recommend it for professional dinners as the dining area can get quite loud.
Reservations recommended. Avoid the Swiss wines. :)

Nice place in the Paquis. Good for drinks and food. Always nice service. I would not recommend the finger food which is a bit expensive but the restaurant menu is great value !

Après avoir testé les cocktails, les desserts et une lasagne, j’y suis retournée pour tester leurs brunchs dominicaux (11h-​17h !).
Nous étions une grande tablée de 12, apparemment c’est ce qui se fait le plus donc niveau convivialité au top (par contre il faut réserver du coup) ! La serveuse était un peu tendue et pas super super agréable (mais correcte quand même, on s’entend) ce qui enlève une étoile à mon à avis… Les 5 – 6 différent brunchs proposés sont tous au même prix de 22.- (hors boisson)(sauf l’option burger qui coûte 2.- de plus) donc facile de diviser l’addition à la fin !
Nous avons presque tous pris qqch de différent et TOUT était bon, voir très bon (œuf, pancake, saucisse, bacon, saumon fumé et j’en passé) donc niveau bouffe, c’était une grande réussite en plus du rapport qualité/​prix qui est très bon !
J’y retournerai sous peu et je vous conseille fortement d’en faire de même ;)

I’m vegetarian and I always find something very enjoyable. This time my meal was a tofu salad with vegetables. It was seasoned perfectly. My husband enjoyed scallops with risotto.

Pour ma part c’est l’endroit de Geneve ou ils font les meilleures fondants au choc! Miam un vrai delice.

Good place for a drink with friends. Unique décor. Has been a while since i had dinner here, so I’m really just rating the bar and atmosphere. Enjoy!

Nice place in Paquis. They use a stove that is open so there is that nice smell of wood.
Try the agneau and the tar tare. Very good.

Loved the food at this place, and I really enjoyed the atmosphere! The waiter was a little surly at first, but he slowly warmed up (maybe after I very bravely ordered a kir violette as my apero…). The foie gras appetizer was really delicious and pretty reasonably priced, compared to other Geneva restaurants. I sat at a communal table, which was great for people watching/​listening to some interesting conversations!

Not the worst place to have a drink but nothing special really. This is one the typical all-​in-​one places which wants to go as restaurant, bar and café at the same time. Consequently, the food is ok but you would not want to bring a date or your parents here, the cocktails and wine are certainly better (albeit also more expensive) in a real cocktail bar, and, well, coffee is not that difficult to make. The atmosphere is nice. The place is located at the intersection of two streets and the large window fronts on both sides give you a feeling of openness. Cosy decoration. Prices are average for geneva. The only (for me significant) down point was that they were playing radio music which gave me the impression of being in a highway motel restaurant. Playing the right music can make a considerable difference and, unfortunately, here it made a difference not in their favour.

Hippes Lokal direkt im Paquis mit der Möglichkeit auf den Sitzplätzen draußen die Flaneure zu begutachten. Der preiswerte und wechselnde Hauswein ist zu empfehlen.

Very «interesting» atmosphere created here and is very «in» with certain Geneva-​ites. A nice place to slow down from the race and enjoy a drink and putting-​the-​world-​to-​rights conversation.

Brunch du dimanche midi.
Ce n’est pas la première fois que nous brunchons dans ce restaurant et pourtant cette expérience là est quasi catastrophique. Nous étions 9, et né sommes pas tous arrivés en même temps. Comme nous devions reprendre le train après le brunch nous avons passé commande avant que le reste de la troupe n’arrive en précisant que nous né les attendrions pas pour manger.
Il s’est écoulé 50min entre le moment où nous avons passé commande et le moment où les assiettes contenant 1 pancake, une salade de fruit, un muesli au yaourt et un œuf coque (froid) avec 2 mouillettes.
Un des œufs des arrivé dur, il a fallu 15min pour en avoir un autre vraiment cuit à la coque !
Une des convive a voulu commander un autre thé car celui servit né lui plaisait pas, et bien je pense qu’à l’heure où vous lisez cet avis, elle l’attend encore.
Ceci dit, ce restaurant qui installe une terrasse extérieure l’été, est assez grand à l’intérieur, avec un plafond très haut. L’atmosphère est chaleureuse, il y a beaucoup de bois, sans être étouffant; on pourrait avoir l’impression que la déco n’est pas tout à fait achevée.
Le service mis à part, c’était bon et l’avantage de ce restaurant c’est qu’il est au cœur des Paquis et donc non loin de la gare pour nous autres voyageurs…

I am a fan of this place literally. It has great ambience for happy hour — a favorite spot for my group. There is indoor and outdoor seating and a friendly staff, plus good munchies as well. Seating outdoors is tight, but perfect on a nice night.

I’ve never eaten here, but I’ve visited for drinks on numerous occasions. A hip and funky atmosphere with a good selection of drinks. One of the better watering holes in Paquis.

Nice, trendy bar-​restaurant in the busy Pâquis district of Geneva but off the main thoroughfares. Young crowd, gets busy most evenings.
