Very good food at a very reasonable price. Love this place! I visit it almost every other day :-)

The worst customer service, something on the lines of we don’t care, I will never go there. If the customer can’t be respect on the basic rights this place should be kept away from… it’s not proper halal either… never ever go there
Especially this guy called Javed… if you don’t want customers to not come in from overseas or locally just have a board saying we don’t know how to talk or respect our customers

Hidden away between Central and Stampfenbachplatz this place is not exactly the intuitive choice for getting a good meal. But if you close your eyes and let your other senses guide you it’s actually a really nice experience. The food is simple, genuine and comes in large portions. The people working there are nice and they seem to enjoy what they do, always varying what they serve for the day so you won’t get bored.
With this said, the only negative thing for me is the price. Sure, it’s cheap compared to some other places but in my opinion it’s not really cheap enough for this kind of meal. If all you get is a plain plate with some food on it, 17 – 18 CHF is a little bit too much, even for Zürich.

Friendly, quick, and extremely good quality at an unbelievable price for Zurich. I will return someday.

Everytime I am near Zurich HB and in mood for Indian food, this is the place I go to.
Unlikely, other fancy places, food tastes more home-​cooked with less oil and fake colors. The whole combination plate costs less than 20 CHF (now that is a winner).
And agree another reviewer, the cabbage sabji is authentic and something that your mommy cooks :)

I could mix and match stuff and it was a lot of food for 15CHF. Very surprising actually :)

Bombay Karachi an der Stampfenbachstrasse 32 in der Nähe vom Central ist ein kleines indisches Restaurant und Take Away. Es mag von aussen zwar nicht so aussehen, aber das Essen hier ist absolut lecker und schmackhaft und das Menu kostet nur 15 Franken. Bedient wird nicht am Tisch, sondern am Buffet und zu Poulet, Fisch oder Lammfleisch gibt es Reis und 2 – 3 verschiedene Gemüse. Den Teller kann man mit warmen Pita Brot und verschiedenen Saucen ergänzen, meine Lieblingssaucen sind Yoghurt und Mango Chutney. Am Schluss gibt es dann noch einen indischen Chai (Chai heisst übrigens Tee in den meisten asiatischen Sprachen), ein süsser Tee mit Milch und Gewürzen. Es ist heiss und der Ventilator läuft auf vollen Touren heute abend. Wir sind mit ein paar Freunden hier und bemerken beim Verabschieden vor dem Imbiss, dass wir nun alle wie Tandoori Chicken riechen.
Gewusst, dass die Inder so scharf essen, weil sie damit dem Körper helfen wollen die Hitze zu ertragen, indem sie ihn zum Schwitzen bringen? Ich frage mich, wie scharf ich essen müsste, damit mir der Schweiss über die Stirn rinnen würde. Auch wenn ich heute abend die Gelegenheit dazu hätte, probier ich’s lieber nicht aus. Der Koch hier ist nicht aus Indien, sondern aus Pakistan, aber er erklärt mir, seine Sprache (Urdu) spreche man auch in Indien und das Essen sei mehr oder weniger dasselbe wie im zweitbevölkerungsreichsten Land der Welt. Ich bin sicher das Kochen, das haben die Inder auf alle Fälle drauf, auch wenn das Essen hier im Bombay Karachi wahrscheinlich nur eine billige Probe davon gewesen ist.

Das Essen war gut, aber nicht herausragend. Dafür sehr preiswert (Essen zwischen 13 und 20 Franken).
