My favorite restaurant in Prague. Everytime I am in this beautiful city I always go here and eat. The steak tartare is the best preparation I have ever eaten. The fried bread and clove of garlic is so amazing. I really enjoy the Pilsner from the tank. Cold, smooth finish. Nothing gets better than that. The potato salad is amazing, they give you more for free if you demolish it like I did. Overall this place is pretty awesome.

We went here after the castle for a late lunch. I had the pork schnitzel and potato salad and my husband had the goulash with potato and bread dumplings. Ask for extra sauce. Large portions and great prices!!!

Awesome Czech Pilsner beer from the tank, great location right by the Charles bridge, very nice staff wishing you«cheers/to your health» all the time, good meals to accompany the beer.

Nice meal, away from all the intense tourist action on the other side of the bridge. Don’t be fooled from the outside, this place has many rooms and is MUCH larger than it looks. Very busy place, even on a rainy night. Full of students, locals, and tourists. Nice mix. Fried cheese was very mild, even a little too mild for my taste. cole slaw(cabbage salad with horseradish) was lovely; I really liked it. The sampler plate of local sausages all tasted the same to me, but my husband ate it hot(we share) and said one was really smokey and he liked it(I assume you can taste the smoke more when it’s hot). The pork skewer was done well. The environment was awesome(we were downstairs, in what must be a cellar… VERY cool!), the service was terrific(brought us extra shots of local digestif after the meal), and the beer was AWESOME! Delicious, fresh beer.

We were staying at a hotel right around the corner and came here for a simple dinner. From the outside, it looks like a tiny joint. But little did we know that there was a huge downstair eating area. As we walked down into this cave-like dining area, we were quickly seated and greeted by our server. We ordered 3 different types of sausage dishes and a bowl of soup. All the sausages(served with either a mild mustard or horseradish) were delicious. Overall, if you want a simple and cheap meal, you will like this place.

Located very near the fabulous Hotel Pod Vezi, we had our last dinner in Prague at this Lokal for a simple meal. We sat in the basement that was a cool looking cellar. The beer vats were huge and labeled the age of the beer — and was excellent. Server was super friendly. Good food. Three of us had different sausages. The beef soup was very good! Would go back there.

The beer is very good, though I find it odd that you can choose to have a giant head. The beer cheese was fantastic but WOW is it strong. I could barely stand the smell of my own breath for the rest of the day. The prices were reasonable– we also ordered the ham, the goulash and the fried cheese. All were tasty. The service was not overly friendly but they did speak good English and the menu was translated which was helpful. Overall I would recommend this place, though not on a hot day as there is no air and it was hot AF they day we were in. But even so I will always remember this lunch in Prague… authentic dishes and good beer– and hopefully we sweated off all the calories as we ate.

As with the other Lokal places in Prague, fantastic beer and traditional Czech food(but locally sourced) and touch-and-go service. This branch is in a good location, but tends to fill up quickly in the summer, so you might be out of luck seating-wise. There is a capacious downstairs, however, which is more welcome in the winter than when the weather’s nice.

Nice welcoming service. The decoration of the basement level which resembles an ancient stone built cellar could be much better to take advantage of the«natural conditions». We couldn’t grasp the idea and concept of the outdated lighting and lighted signs of the Dirty Dancing, together with fans, trucks and cuco clocks. Food was tasty, not spectacular but good value for money. Mainly the three stars go to the friendliness of staff, something to value in a massified tourism city like Prague, and therefore so likely to run into bad service and unfriendliness from people attending customers.

The beer price was average, but not on the cheap side. My boyfriend had the prague ham and the whipped cream horseradish which was weird but good :) Staff was super nice. I would come back :)

Fine authentic food at great prices(around USD $ 10 per person), but nothing special. The foam options for the beer are pretty intriguing — there are 3 options ranging from standard to 100% foam — but I stuck with the standard option as that was our waiter’s personal preference(he had a sweet raven tattoo on his forearm so he probably knows his alcohol right?). The nudies from the 80s in the bathroom are a nice quirk I guess…

Great little Czech inn — great place to sit down with friends, and share a Pilsner with family and friends. We got the pork leg schnitzel, fried cheese & bottomless potato salad(there weren’t many vegetarian options on the menu, but hey this is meat & potatoes country). The food was great, and our check was under CZK600 — a good deal given the proximity to Charles Bridge. The great waiters and overall ambience was a plus.

Great food and great prices!!! We had a huge meal and it ended up costing only about 150 crowns a person. We had the fried cheese, sausages with bread, potato salad(which had free refills!), and chicken soup, with a beer a piece. The soup was only meh, but everything else was fantastic. Plus free wifi(Password ambiente). We loved it and it definitely felt authentic. Be warned, we had good service at this Lokál but there are several across the city and some of them do not have as good service.

After exploring Prague Castle on a chilly day, I knew I wanted some authentic Czech food. After googling and Unilocaling places nearby, I discovered Lokal. It is about a 10 minute walk from Prague Castle(and close to the Charles Bridge as well!). They have 2 sections, a smoking section, and a nonsmoking section, which was good for us, as we’re nonsmokers. The menu was in English, so it was easy to read and understand. And, after converting the prices from Koruna to USD, I realized just how cheap it was! My mom went for a soup and one of the sausage entrée dishes, while I had their beef special, and a mug of the Pilsner Urquell(which came out to be a little less than $ 2USD!). Their Pilsner comes in 3 different kinds, based on how much foam you want, and you can even upgrade to a bigger size for maybe a few cents extra. The food was pretty delicious and very hearty. We had no idea what to expect, so we were pleasantly surprised. The beer was tasty as well. The best part of all was how cheap the meal came out to be(about $ 15 total, including a drink). They also accepted credit cards, so that’s a plus, although did ask for tip though, so be aware of that.

Muy bueno, de lo mejor de comida checa! La atención es inmejorable, cada vez que voy pregunto por que me recomiendan y nunca se equivocan. Importante reservar para los fines de semana por la noche.

After sightseeing Prague Castle BESURETOCOMEHERE — if you come before the rush, a bit early, you will not need a reservation and may be lucky enough to sit downstairs in the old school cellar. They bring you a sheet with 99 beers on it and cross them out as you drink :) Food is fantastic and all local cuisine. We had the most memorable dish of our 2 week Germany & Prague vacation here… DONOTMISS the beef tartar, it was garlicky and amazing we talked about it for 3 days and our picture makes it look disgusting but it was FANTASTIC. Order Prague ham with creamy horseradish too.

Good and well priced Czech food, very close to the Charles Bridge. You can get your beer with variable amounts of foam. The menu for lunch was not very large and I think it actually changes daily(I’ve been here before for dinner about a year ago and we ate totally different stuff). The staff speaks English and there is Wi-Fi!

Great experience here– typical Czech food. We ordered the variety sausages with mustard and horseradish– good to split between two people. We also had the beef goulash with dumplings and the beef neck with rice. Lots of gravy! The menu is small– make sure you can pick between beer and pork dishes. They have an interesting way of serving beer here– you get to pick the level of foam. There is either a normal pour, half foam, or all foam. The nice thing about this place is that the prices are very reasonable. Their wait staff speaks great English. The negatives. They have no hot sauce. I would prefer the menu to have a wider selection– they only have like five dishes to choose from on the main menu.

Pretty good place! Especially the size of these«Lokal» beer and beer food places is impressive. We had(beer of course, duh;-) a serving of the so-called«beer mixed cheese» — not entirely sure whether there is actually beer in this special thing or if it is to be understood as «mixed cheese» for the beers. It is a mixture of some kind of strong pungent cheese, spices and diced onions — just it try it, it is good. We also got some sausages and they were also pretty good, although I recommend getting those that come either as one or two in a serving — they seem to be of the highest quality. Cheers.
