They made five people, including an 88-year-old woman with a walker, stand around for 30 minutes at check-in at 11pm so a waitress could close out her cash. They put us in a room directly on top of a construction site(see pic) where heavy equipment vibrated us awake in the morning. The lock on the door to our room failed when we came back from dinner, forcing us to stand around while the single untrained staffer on duty dismantled the lock. The room was shabby and lighting made it even gloomier. Air conditioner and safe did not work for two of the four days we stayed there. Toilet kept running unless you jiggled the handle in a certain way and the bathroom sink stopper froze so we couldn’t drain the sink. The location is great but the hotel is a disaster.

I stayed here in Nov of 2015 and it was a very pleasant experience. I wanted a nice room with a good view and they staff were very accommodating to my requests(thanks Frank!). I stayed in the castle view suite, which is worth the extra money, in my opinion. The room was very nice and looked out over the river, bridge and castle. The room’s bathroom was nice and spacious and had a jacuzzi tub and separate shower. The hotel has a great breakfast in the morning and the normal restaurant was well above average for Prague. There is a nice patio area in the courtyard to have a cigarette or get fresh air. The hotel is an old building but is pretty well maintained and has a good charm to it. Would definitely stay here again.

This hotel was located in a perfect spot, but the actual hotel had a few problems… First off, our room safe was broken. We told the front desk and he came to look at it. He changed the battery at first and that didn’t work. Then he tried to change the key card, and that didn’t work. Then he said he would get a technician to come and look at it, who never came… So we had no safe the whole entire. Second, the maid did nothing but make the beds. Did not vacuum or even wipe off the bathroom counters. Did not give us new glasses. Third, our room was so hot and stuffy! They said it wasn’t «air conditioning season» so the AC was not on, but the lobby had great AC! We couldn’t really open the windows because the street noise was too loud. Fourth, our room kept losing electricity! When we called the front desk to tell them, they told us we had too many things plugged in, but we hadn’t plugged anything in extra at all! They flipped the breaker switch and it came back on, but 10 minutes later it went off again. The guy came back and told us to just switch the breaker every time we needed power. Umm… okay? So all night we kept doing that. The next day we decided to unplug every thing(the TV, all the lamps, the coffee pot) just to see if that helped and it did… So we had to basically keep everything unplugged if we wanted any power… Fifth, our shower kept clogging and every time you took a shower it was basically a race to finish to prevent the water from overflowing on the floor. The breakfast buffet was pretty good. The first day it had a wide selection of pastries and crepes but that went away after that. I don’t know why.

Beautiful hotel centrally located with free WiFi. The complimentary breakfast was excellent and already want to go back.
