Dining in a cavernous setting was a definitely an experience. Good food, great house beers at great prices. Will come back.

Since there aren’t many reviews on Unilocal for places in Prague, I figured I would review the places I eat while I’m here. Ferdinanda was the first place we stopped for dinner the day we arrived in Prague and the food and atmosphere were low key and comfortable — the entire restaurant is underground and you potentially share your table with other guests as they file in. As I learned, the pilsner, sausage and cabbage salad was likely the most stereo typically Czech thing I could have ordered but it was excellent. My girlfriend ordered chicken and fries and they were similarly tasty and well prepared. Combined, our meal was less than 400 koruna. We left full and happy for under 20 usd. 5 stars for a well executed, delicious meal and great value.

This is one of two Ferdinanda locations in Prague(the other is in New Town). The service is cheerful and friendly, and the food is fantastic. I highly reommend the fried bread with blue cheese as an appetizer; the pork with apricot chutney and a side of french fries is an excellent entrée. Another American also told us that the goulash was excellent. The entire restaurant is underground in what appears to have once been a cellar, which means that it’s an excellent way to escape the heat on a hot day. And of course, the beer is excellent.
