Eddie and Brian were the best bartenders I could imagine. I can tell they live what they do and even though it was my first time at a bar and first time meeting them, they really set the standard high. They really took care of my friends and I even though we were probably really annoying. I’m coming more often.

Indeed — The Doolittle is «Cheers» 2.0, the place where everybody knows your name! I love it. The best bartenders, drinks and beer selection. It’s a plus because it is literally right around the corner from my home. Great vibe, chill people and the drinks are the best. You can also bring your own food! Keep up the great work!

The bartenders are amazing. They make you feel welcome and always remember my name and my favorite cocktail. Best Lemon Drops Martini’s ever. They use fresh fruit in their drinks.

Quiet, amazing drinks and good atmosphere. They make some of the best drinks that I’ve ever had and its tucked away from the beaten path. Highly recommend this place.

Found myself in Hayward area with some time to kill and in need of refreshment. Unilocal reviews suggested this may be a promising place and boy was that an under-sell! Great tap beer options and killer cocktails. A huge shout-out to Eddie the bartender in particular. He made me a great Bloody Mary(all by hand, no pre-mixed stuff here!). Just when we thought it couldn’t get any better he asked if we wanted the next round to be «next level». Never question a good bartender, just let him do his thing. Sure enough the next round(with local alameda green-pepper-infused vodka) was totally next-level. Hats off Eddie, you are a prince among bartenders.

Cute little shack found by a liquor store close to the industry buildings and hospitals. It has a weird, beautiful, classy feel, but seems like one of those places the neighborhood crowd comes to visit, but if your too uptight for Castro valley, or Hayward you may never come to this drinking hole, and it’s okay. They could really use your business, great beer selections, great vinyl record collections, lower coat hanging systems. A few booths and tables available it looks like a place a Private investor or investigators may meet for secret rendezvous. But the place is totally off the grid. I mean it’s still untouched and as of this review nobody will know of it’s existence and that’s kind of the charm about this place.

Does everything a small town bar should They have areas to improve, but there isn’t anything wrong with this place. They make good cocktails and have a good selection of hard alcohol. They also have a quaint selection of micro brews, which is always nice. This isn’t an SF bar on Polk st, so dancings not really possible here(unless you’ve had a lot to drink) which is kinda too bad because they do have a decent sound system in there, they don’t have 15 different flavors of vodka, and the parking lot is pretty small, but there definitely isn’t a better bar in Castro valley.

This bar needs to be more popular. They have nothing but great quality liquor and beer. Each bartender that has served me has been stellar. People come support this great little bar! 5 tvs with different games ands a great dive bar feel! I love this bar!

Great bar!!! My favorite in the area. They always have a great beer selection and the staff is always super friendly. No food here — just a sweet ass bar with awesome beer! They play great 80s music and have tvs, so it’s a great place to watch sports.

Quite a hip bar for Castro Valley. I enjoyed the libations and the crowd. I’ll be back. Thank you for reading the most generic review ever.

It’s too nice to be a dive bar and much better than the surrounding bars off the boulevard. I like the décor and exposed brick. The bartender wasn’t friendly but got the job done. The pics made the place look larger. There are 5 or 6 booths, the bar and table top seating. Specialty drink menus are in the album covers at the booths. I didn’t know this at first and went hunting around for one. Drinks are a little pricier than expected. Parking can be difficult since the business next door ropes off their lot.

Looks much different than when it was The Waiting Room! It’s 1⁄3 of the size, maybe 5 booths and 2 or 3 tables in the middle. They always have a good choice of beers and last time I went they had free nachos and sandwiches! They have quite a few TVs in here for such a small spot, but it’s a great bar to watch sports in! The parking lot is tiny, you’ll probably have to park on the street, especially if it’s the weekend.

Plenty of bonus points for the unassuming vibes. Strip mall next to a hospital? Who would’ve thunk? Even more bonus points for the canoe bar piece. Simply amazing and a joy to look at, whether you’re a hard liquor drinker or not. The place would’ve hit 5-star amazingness if it wasn’t for the mediocre drinks. Cocktails at $ 9 – 10 are a bit steep given location, but even more so when everything we tried leaned towards the overly sweetened side. So sweet to a point where we had to abandon ship on a few of our drinks because it began tasting like we were drinking iced syrup. Luckily the beer selection is great — tons of micro-options and IPAs all around — makes up for the bumpy cocktail ride. Great place though and the folks were extra friendly. Will surely come back if we’re ever in the area and need a spot to mellow out.

Lots of good beer. The best light girly beer to have is white ale… it’s strong but delicious. A chill place. The best part is you can bring ur own food or have food delivered while you enjoying good beer.

After eating dinner, Boyfriend and I didn’t want to call it a night quite yet and decided to head over to a bar nearby. We parked in the small lot outside and heard a bunch of voices and music. Our first thought was, «Great, it’s going to be super crowded and uncomfortable.» However, we were shocked to see a healthy amount of people at the tables with several open seats scattered around the interior. There were a couple booths and spots open at the bar. It has a marine, but woodsy, but tribal theme to the place. I don’t how to describe it. I really like how the place was decorated and yet still very nicely kept and clean. They also have a cool collection of old records. The bartenders were very friendly and welcoming. They have cocktails and wine, but we decided to go for a couple of beers and leave our tab open. We sat a booth near the back and had a great time. They have an assortment of different beers on tap as well as specialty cocktails. I don’t think wine is as popular, but I did see that they had a good amount of selection in that area too. I want to say that this is one of the best bars I’ve been to, not only in the immediate area, but also in the Bay. I enjoyed its comfortable, yet cool vibe. I would definitely recommend to a friend and return again. Boyfriend said that this place as the best bar he has been to since his trip to Amsterdam last fall. Uptight pretentious bartender… Over it. Over you. Bye. Unilocal is claiming this is too short so it’s only a tip. That’s BS…

So far so good! Stumbled on this place and it turns out to be a nice dice into kind of bar. The have a turntable do they spin vinyl. Bartender is super cool and can make a stiff drink on request. Do yourself a favor. Put Castro Valleys number 1 bar on the map!

I love this bar! Their beer prices are always amazing and they have great beer options too. The vibe in there is also very cool. Wooden interior with interesting decorations. My only complaint is that the whole place echos. So when the music is loud, we can’t hear each other.
