Scuttlebutt’s Seafood Bar & Grill

We’re visiting for a weekend getaway, and this place was amazing. Food was incredible, service was perfect, drinks were strong. Absolutely worth the visit.

This was our first visit and we absolutely loved the food! The ahi tuna I ordered was cooked perfectly (medium rare) and my husband’s shrimp and scallop skewers were delicious. We arrived early in the dinner hour so there was no wait for a table and we got happy hour drinks which also didn’t disappoint. We topped it all off with a slice of Mom’s Chocolate Cake, a must for chocoholics!

Yes the happy hour price is great and their draft beer selection is rather decent. But the shrimp/​oysters we ordered did not taste all that fresh. While the mussels were pretty tasty (although a little heavy on the oil), to be honest we were hoping for more.
The staff were friendly enough, but the place could do with improvement on overall cleanliness.
Their rice cooker was broken and we couldn’t try their sushi, so that was a bummer.
The place is pretty loud with music and the crowd, and it could be a fun place for tourists but it won’t be our regular place to eat.

What a joke! Went out to celebrate a friends birthday, we called earlier day and were told if we called 30 mins before they would put us on the waiting list so our party of 8 could be seated relatively quickly upon arrival. An hour later we were still waiting for our table, while multiple tables that could have been put together sat empty or were given to smaller parties arriving after us. Fast forward to the waiter who was polite enough to inform us immediately that he «wasn’t ready to take our table», and «had asked the hostess not to seat us yet, so we would just have to be patient». I know there are some eating establishments where a server with a bad attitude is part of the experience you pay for, however our server was serving it up freely, no extra charge. Our relatively simple orders took way over an hour to hit the table, and were mediocre at best. The indifference of the staff to our plight also went a long way in souring our experience, it was clear they really didn’t seem to care about our «customer experience». Needless to say I won’t be back, but something tells me they could probably careless.

Outstanding oysters, calamari, cold beer and great service! The happy hour is unbelievable — saved so much and ate like royalty. Will be back soon. Grant was our server and was great!

So I’m a bit sad to write this review because the Food and service was excellent, totally worth 4 stars!
We had oyster on the half to start and they were fresh and very clean. Then I had the softshell crab plate and my husband had the blackened mahimahi. The softshell crab was delicious! Crispy and SUPER FRESH! My husband’s mahi mahi was buttery and cooked perfect. His spinach au gratin was pretty good, I mean who wouldn’t enjoy melted cheese on creamy spinach? Genius!
So with all that said, we were waiting for the check and I felt something on my arm. I thought it was a fly and swatted it away and it was a HUGE cockroach that landed on our table and I couldn’t get out of there fast enough! Ekk!
We’re visiting Port A and happened to stop in to have a bite. Hopefully this is a rare incident but had to share.
It’s really too bad because the food and service was so good.

Place is awesome! The jalapeño shrimp with the jalapeño jelly on the hush puppies was so amazing. Everything was so good and our server was great as well

Not recommended. Has a couple of good dishes but some are heavily salted. And it took 1.5 hrs to get food. Definitely don’t upgrade to the asparagus, I got 5 spears for an extra $
The music was good

Girls’ Night on a Saturday night and the music was great! Our server was Mike and he was awesome and only his 2^nd night to serve!
Subtracted one star because the prices are very, very high! At least 25% more than other comparison restaurants. AND their wooden high bench seats are pretty uncomfortable!!!
In the past, I had only dined there during their happy hour which is a very great deal so I never really paid to much attention to the prices of their main menu! ½ price u-​peel-​shrimp which is a good deal (about $ 10 a lb) and enough to split with someone with a side of their tasty sweet potato fries (we ask for no cinnamon)
We will be back for their music but definitely we will arrive early enough to catch their happy hour.

Cool fun place. It is loud and always a wait but you have to expect that. The musician was fun and good. Something for everyone on the menu.

The only place for my husband and I to celebrate our anniversary. The oyster on the half-​shell were super sweet, the peel and eat shrimp were fabulous. The soft crab sandwich was extraordinary as normal.

Good food but crowded and loud. After 6pm on weekends have live music. I had sushi and a bowl with an Asian food mixture. Food was very good, prices are high end of average. I would recommend but plan on waiting for a seat.

Cool place, good beer and drink selection, menu is amazing, had freak shrimp and oysters on half shell OMG! Great! Service was very good, fun staff. Going back today for more, happy hour is the best

Food is good… but questionable service. Was not offered a second drink. And was not offered dessert. I really wanted dessert… they sound good, but now I will never know. Husband enjoyed the gumbo. I wonder what changes there will be in the world by the time we get the bill and get out of here… perhaps Trump will be in his second term…

GREAT service. We went to Scuttlebutts on a Monday around 530 and ended up at a table in the bar; this place was packed. The bartender was also the waitress and she was funny, kind, and helpful.
Everything we ordered was delicious from the fried clams and oysters to the fried banana sandwich, salmon and sushi.
Parking is difficult because this is where the locals eat, but well worth the effort!

Went here with a big group of friends. Plenty of seating.
Service was really great! Attentive and informative.
Huge selection of food and drinks which is always a plus.
Sushi was meh. I am a sushi snob myself so I’m rather hard to please. However, the basics of sushi need to be met at the very least. The fish was fresh. The concept of the roll was great. However, the rice was terribly grain-​y and uncooked. Sushi rice should be fragrant and be the perfect balance between tender and hard. The grains should stick together but it should not be mushy.
Will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu and drinks though!

This was a great find! A local we had met recommended it — she said we would be blown away by the happy hour specials — wow was she right! We were a little put off that it was in a strip mall — but once your inside you would never know it. Much larger than it appears. Had a great super knowledgeable super friendly server that made excellent recommendations. We were excited about the sushi rolls being ½ off so ordered 2 of those — she offered «how about a pound of snow crab to go with that for $ 9.99?» Um yes! When it came out I thought it had to be more than a pound but it wasn’t and it was so good! Steamed with lemon and drawn butter — just like I like it. She also recommended dessert — we went with the orange zest crème brûlée — wow was that good! So glad we came!

Sushi was good — my daughter liked the philly and Mac and Cheese and my son likes the crunchy Cali

2.75 pints of a craft beer selection featuring Stone, Alaskan, and Real Ale.
½ price sushi, wings, oysters, and boiled shrimp.

What a disappointing place; I feel bad for the people who work here, they’re clearly understaffed and can’t handle the amount of people coming in, the server definitely seemed embarrassed when our food wasn’t prepared the way we requested.
My uncle recommended this place since he used to live in the area, said lots of seafood and fish so we went. They said 15 mins wait so we waited. 20 mins later we got our table, took at least another 5 – 8 mins before a server came to the table. There was a very angry man who had waited 35 mins and must’ve been told less because he was throwing a fit.
I ordered grilled shrimp, twice baked potato and asparagus. The shrimp was great, seasoned well, can’t screw that up really, it was a little cold, but it was still delicious. They didn’t scoop out all of the potato, only about ¼ was «twice baked» so I had to scoop out all the plain potato and mix with the other part. Asparagus was good.
My Mom got the patty melt, requested medium and got it well done and charred. There was one onion and hardly any cheese. She was super bummed as she just wanted a juicy burger. She did mention it to the server, but he didn’t offer to fix it or another option. The fries were delicious; thicker steak cut fries with a good crunch.
I’d assume there’s some poor management here as it just didn’t seem to be run well. Super disappointing to spend $ 50 on a meal and not be satisfied with the food or service. Wondering where around this town does care as I’ll be back again this summer looking for something better.
I would’ve loved to have tried HH but we came a little early for it and sure weren’t going to stay.
