What do you do when you’re craving some taiyaki? Well, you go on Unilocal and find the nearest one to you! Therefore, when I was walking around Flushing and my cravings kicked in, I discovered this little gem. Located inside one of the corners of J-mart near the cashiers was this little stall manned by this adorable couple. One of them was focused on making the tiny delimanjoo(mini fishes with custard filling) while the other one was flipping out the lucky fish(taiyaki!). There were 2 taiyaki batter you could choose from: original or green tea. You were also able to choose what filling you wanted(some that were offered was nutella, cream, red bean, etc). They had different combos to choose from as well. I end up buying the lucky combo 3: 1 taiyaki, 6 delimanjoo, and 6 walnut cake(little walnut pastries with walnut paste inside). All were still hot and fresh when I ordered them. The taiyaki you say? Crispy on the outside, warm and soft on the inside. I can’t wait to cut back and order more!

I purchased a box of 24 little fish. They were made right in front of me and taste so good. A little on the sweet side but that’s not why this restaurant gets 4 stars. It is situated near the registers of Jmart so it was really congested and the menu options are all at hip height so it was difficult to see the options in such a congested area. Great food, but tricky to find and its difficult to view the options.

Thanks for saving me the trip from trekking out to Manhattan to try some taiyaki! I didn’t even know this place existed until I was speeding through Jmart to get to the food court when I spotted this corner store selling taiyaki! They are little in the corner near the check out registers of the supermarket. I ultimately decided on getting the combo just because I thought it would be more worth it. I got to try some of the cream filled chibi taiyaki, red bean filled taiyaki and tiny walnut cakes. Be careful when eating the cream filled chibi taiyaki! I was lucky enough to get ones from a freshly made batch and it was sooo good(but hot) but worth it! Walnut cakes, I could tell, had been sitting out for a while since they were cold(I guess they aren’t as popular). Perfect little dessert for those who don’t really like their desserts too sweet(my grandparents loved this one!) I was expecting the red bean filled taiyaki to have a waffle like texture but instead it was a bit like eating a taiyaki filled with red bean and mochi. Definitely best eaten fresh off the taiyaki/cake makers!

So delicious! I am drooling just thinking about it. It’s located inside Jmart near the cashiers. My friend and I came right when the food stand was about to close. We got 6 cream filled fishs and 1 big red bean fish. The worker was so kind to give us another free red bean fish! GREATSERVICERIGHTTHERE. Can’t wait to go back and try the other flavors.
