Sushi Yami Japanese Restaurant

Ate here last Friday. Miso soup, green tea, 3 rolls. It came out both ends less than an hour later. Not so happy about that. I called and told them how sick I became, and was promised free sushi on next visit. Honestly never would have gone back but they seem nice so i figured i would go out on a limb and try again. Upon visit had to confront and ask like I did something wrong in getting sick. Made me feel like it was my failt for getting sick, and was offered one free roll as «reparations». If I throw up my entire meal and I’m forced to sit on the toilet for an hour immediately upon leaving your restaurant, you should be offering me the whole menu for free just to get me back in the door. Will not be back. It is a shame nice place but There’s plenty of other sushi options, make sure you exercise them.

Really, people? What am I missing? Went to lunch and order pad Thai and sushi sashimi bent box. I know I am spoiled since we usually go to sushi Yama in boca. The pad Thai was greasy not in a good way with barely any vegetable matter to be seen, maybe 4 peanuts, 5 shrimp. No cilantro maybe a negligible Amnt of spring onion and bean sprout. Sushi was average. Not going back.

This is by far my favorite sushi place. Great food, and great service. Everyone there is so sweet and they will always remember your name. I have never been unsatisfied with their service, and I have been going there for years. Hamapeno appetizer is so delicious! Some of my favorite rolls are celebration, jb deluxe, Miami Heat roll, Mexican roll, and yami roll. Once you go there, you’ll never want sushi from any other place.

What a great little sushi joint! The staff is extremely nice, and we will definitely be coming back again.
We started with the spicy wahoo special, which was raw wahoo mixed with a little spicy sauce on top of sliced cucumber in (what seemed like) ponzu sauce. It was delicious. Then, we ordered three rolls: Yami’s Roll, Black Dragon Roll, and Crunchy Roll. Yami’s roll was filled with salmon and hamachi that melted in your mouth. The Black Dragon roll was unique and well balanced with a kick. The Crunchy Roll was also good, but not exactly my style (it was deep fried). My husband loved it though.
We ate all this along with a bottle of nigori sake, and a small carafe of hot sake (we were thirsty), and our bill was $ 68. Very reasonable, and solid food. Can’t wait to go back again.

Went with my wife and kids for dinner and it was amazing. The staff were very friendly and attentive. They had the freshest fish that melts in your mouth. I had the Boat for 2 which included 12 pieces of sashimi, 12 pieces of sushi, hamachi roll and spicy tuna roll which I devoured all by myself lol. My wife had a Golden JB roll and Shrimp tempura roll. My two kids each had Chicken Katsu with fries. I would give my experience a 5 star but only complaint was the seats for the booth were not comfortable. Will definitely come back to this place.

Been coming here from the 1^st day it opened! Love it… always good and Laura is the best! Sensational shrimp are a must try!

Nice ambient place to have a meal. Not a large place. Food is good. Celebration rolls are probably there best rolls. But all the food I’ve had here has been good

I came to this place many years ago with a few friends, suffice it to say I barely had time to venture to the Lantana area. But fate brought me back here and the atmosphere and quality never diminished, and we’re talking about 4 years between visits.
My friend and I ordered the sushi boat for 2, some gyoza, and sake. We had a grand time, the sushi quality was spectacular. I went to Japan recently and it was nice to be reminded that there were places of comparable quality and attention to detail. Glad to have come back for a visit. Will always recommend to anyone near the area for good sushi.

Came back a few times rice was good. Fish was fresh and very tasty glad they improved. I will be back their salmon sashimi is thick and buttery.

Great sushi! What more do you want or need to confirm? The rolls are 8 pieces which is far better than the normal 6 — so that aspect alone is pretty nice. The dumplings are not mushy which is very important. Overall I would certainly return.

We love sushi. While we have found good sushi all over south Florida, we have struggled to find AFFORDABLE good sushi. This place takes the cake. The selection, freshness, and charm of this little restaurant is on point. We ordered the Yami Roll, Golden JB Roll, and a spicy tuna roll and absolutely loved it. We are so excited to find good and cheap sushi that is clearly fresh. Will be back!

Start off with the Firecracker Sashimi, and there’s little chance that the rest of your night won’t be a success! Slightly seared sashimi surrounded with a very light ring of tempura. Excellent!
We also ordered up a few sushi rolls, ranging from simple (a basic salmon roll, stuffed generously with deliciously fresh fish) to not-​so-​simple… I personally recommend Yami’s roll.
This place is small, casual, and serves up great sushi. Maybe not the best place for a first date, but certainly a good spot overall.

Do not judge a book by its cover. The outside looks outdated and run down and the insides ambiance isn’t the top of the line which is why I knock one star off. But that’s it.
We have both dined in and gotten take out sushi (something I really never ever do) here and it’s never be a negative experience! The owners are always in there and are so nice to chat with. The service is impeccable and their wait staff are very attentive. The sushi is a wide enough variety that even those who may be new to the flavors can enjoy it!
While they may need to update their décor, that’s the only complaint I have. The prices are very reasonable and the service is always great. They are closed for a few hours in the afternoons so make sure you check before you go! I highly recommend Sushi Yami!

Since this location is easy to find and close to my home, I recently returned with my sister in hopes of dining on a sushi boat. Upon arrival, we were greeted and seated at a nice booth close to the sushi bar.
Our hot green tea kept coming — the waitress was nice and had a smile on her face the entire meal. (I’m pretty sure the hot green tea had free refills — we probably downed 4 pots of tea!!)
We ordered an octopus appetizer (the name escapes me, sorry) and while it was garnished and presented nicely, we were off-​put by the ICE COLD center of the octopus. I almost removed a star, but the rest of our meal was great.
Edamame doesn’t come salted, so be aware of that — there is salt on the table, though, so you can do-​it-​yourself.
The Yami Boat for Two was priced nicely & came with miso soup; my sister and I finished ¾ths of it and took the rest home. The leftovers held up well the next day.
Oh, and be aware that this place DOES get busy — we arrived just before the dinner rush & I was very glad we did.
