I want to like this place, but the owner(or, the man behind the register, I assume is the owner) is making it HARD The food was alright — falafels were okay, the lamb was good, the fries were little flat frozen saucers, and the«fresh made daily baklava» was ancient. Our order was about $ 27, which seemed like a lot for fast food. I looked over the receipt: He charged us $ 1 extra for feta and spicy garlic sauce, when there’s a choice on the menu between tahini and spicy garlic. Feta is $.50 extra. Ok, whatever, it’s a buck. Then I noticed he charged us for 2 baklava($ 7 total) when we just had one of the clam shell containers probably a simple mistake, right? We asked about it, and he told us it counts as 2 because there’s 2 slices in it. On the menu it says baklava is $ 3.50. Ugghhhhh It’s too bad, because if it weren’t for this feeling of being cheated I would probably have made my way back. Definitely not going to now

I love this place, but recently when I placed an order, I noticed the cashier(seems to always be the same guy) didn’t give me back the right amount of change. When I did ask for it, he rudely rolled his eyes giving it back. I didn’t know if it had to do with the way I looked, but it felt like I was treated differently because he seemed to be nicer to other customers.

The meat was good, the rest was average. Infuriatingly, the guy tried to stiff me on my change. First for four bucks, then for *thirteen*. We won’t be back.

The gryos here are the same size as your fat face, because lets face it– you heard about this place from another one of your fat kid friends, and you yourself love some fat kid food. Quality? Meh. Mediocre. You come here to specifically feel like a piñata. Stuffed with gryo.

Amazingly delicious falafel sand the gyro meat is fantastic. The baclava was meh. I have had better but I have had worse. I’m very picky with my falafels and these were awesome. So glad I found this little gem.

The Gyro House serves 82nd Avenue in the form of a likable storefront. Gyros and other Mediterranean foods can be ordered here. Tables are plentiful. Prices are par for the course. Going here was mostly good, despite how unsavory the area can be at times. I got the gyro for $ 6.50 and the fries for two extra. It came after seven or so minutes. As to the gyro, it was tasty, but it comes up short of the flavor of other gyros. The sauce was creamy, but some spice and, or richness to that cream would make it better. The fries were good. Also, this is next to Eastport Plaza. Take a look at alternatives.

I usually have really great service here, and enjoy the food. Just had a falafel gyro though that was missing half he toppings. Came in to get it fixed and they were very rude when I told them it was missing the lettuce. The said«so you want more lettuce?» No, you never put t on there at all. Then thy gave it back to me Over loaded with lettuce. Can’t help but feel like I got punished for bringing it back.

My boyfriend and I have been meaning to try this place for a while. We were both pretty hungry when we got there. We ordered the fries(w/spicy garlic sauce and feta), he had the lamb gyro, and I had the dolma gyro. I actually didn’t mind my dolma gyro but there was waaaaaaaay too much sauce on mine. my boyfriend didn’t really care for his lamb gyro, he said the spicy garlic sauce was too much for him. the fries weren’t that great either, and I agree that I wasn’t too crazy for the sauce either. I also have to say that the atmosphere was a little chaotic for me. I felt like even though it was really slow there was so much noise, and talking was too loud that it was distracting. I probably won’t be back, but hey, who knows.

I’ve moved quite a bit over the last decade and if there’s one trick I’ve learned to getting comfortable with a new city and feeling«at home,» it’s the discovery of your nearby, small-shop food obsession; enter Gyro House! Thanks to Unilocalers’ reviews this was one of the first eateries we tried when we landed in Portland and now it’s the place we fear we’ll burn ourselves out on by eating there too frequently. The lamb gyro is amaaaazing! It looks like it might be dry when you get it, but is shockingly moist and well-seasoned. The dinner plates are generously portioned without being over-fed and priced proportionately to the flavor and quantity. My usual is the hummus(which comes with flatbread) and falafel appetizers. The falafel are crunchy on the outside, moist and tender on the inside. With the addition of small sides of tzatziki, you can make quite a few tasty falafel sandwiches! My husband is obsessed with the gyro wrap and its spicy garlic sauce. I insist on a few bites, myself, as the portions are quite generous and the flavors are not to be missed. You may, however, want to find some ice cream or breath mints after because, ZOWIE!, that stuff will make your breath melt off the wallpaper! This is a very casual place, so not really ideal for romance(unless plastic forks and thin styrofoam plates are your idea of romantic, and if so… well… that’s your journey, my friend). But if you’re looking for a delicious wallop of flavor, on a low key night, at a reasonable price… get… you…some Gyro House!

So we have lived down the street form this place for half of a year now and have never gone. Until one rainy Sunday night when we weren’t really sure what to eat. Then OH! Gyro! Let’s try this place out. When you look at the place and when you walk in you think hmmm I am not sure how good this week be. It half looks like a divey awesome place and a divey not so awesome place. The menu is very large. So large you can’t stand in line to read it you have to back up. Ordering… was interesting. There were three ladies working and they were all speaking Spanish with one another, which is totally great, but when I went to place my order, waiting there patiently, they looked at me like I was interrupting their social hour. My bad ladies. I ordered and when she asked me if I wanted the feta, I didn’t understand her at first and I asked her to repeat herself and it wasn’t the most pleasant response, but whatever I got it! The actual plates of food like Gyro plate($ 11+) seemed really pricey so we decided to both get Gyros($ 6.50-$ 7) and the Hummus plate($ 5). The Hummus plate was litereally a plate of hummus with 1 olive and 1 pieces of pita cute into 4. It was a waste if you ask me. Really yummy Hummus, but not that exciting. The Gyro? OMGSOGREAT! It was huge! So yummy! Yummmmy! Five stars for the Gyro. Everything else was Mehhhh. Will I go back? Only for a gyro if I’m craving one.

Huuuge gyro pita sandwiches. Wish we had just ordered one to share. The amount of meat was mind boggling. Good cucumbers and tzatziki in a OK little strip mall shop. What’s not to like? Not worth a special trip, but definitely worth a stop.

Very friendly staff. The owners are Lebanese and they have a second location in Beaverton. I had lentil soup and dipped my pita bread in it. I really loved it

I’ve had their Lamb Gyro with feta cheese twice. And I tried the Baklava. The gyro was pretty good, but not great. I am not a big fan of the meat they use. It doesn’t have that much flavor, and frankly, I am not sure what’s in it. The sauce that it comes with is good. I do wish they used a more pungent feta, because theirs is a bit bland. The pita and veggies tasted great and fresh. The baklava was not good. I think it sat around there for a while. And it had an off taste. Not sure if it was preservatives. There definitely was something odd in it besides the nuts, sugar, butter and puff pastry. Cedo’s beats this place easily. It’s cheap, so that’s a plus.

Great place for gyros and falafels. Gyro prices are great but I thought the vegetarian appetizer platter was a little pricey for what you get. The tabouleh and hummus were delicious and the baklava was the best I have had in Portland. If you are craving a delicious gyro, I would highly recommend this place!

Most everyone has had a gyro at some point in their life. Whether it be a diner in New Jersey or a food truck in Texas or a pod here in PDX. It’s the same thing in most places, your meat, veggies, sauce and flatbread, with some slight deviations along the way. You really can’t get it wrong. I’ve had some decent ones here in town from food pods on the east and west side and in some Lebanese restaurants but the closer you are downtown, the more you seem to pay for them and it’s not always the same quality. So, why go downtown when if you go a little further out to 82nd you can find what I think is the best gyro I’ve had so far in this town and for only $ 6.50, and they do not skimp. Gyro House is in the Lents neighborhood at 82nd and Holgate where I’ve found great pizza, Russian, dim sum and Hawaiian. It’s a nice little melting pot of cultures in a small area. I was heading somewhere else but needed to eat beforehand and I figure I’d get something quick to eat. As I mentioned $ 6.50 gets you most of the wraps on the menu plus they have plate meals and homemade desserts. An extra fifty cents gets you some feta. You also have the option of tzatziki or spicy garlic sauce. Spicy garlic sauce it is. It took a few minutes to get and I was surprised at how big it was. It was filled with lettuce, tomatoes and red onions(I’d have liked a few pepperonicinis, but anyway) The garlic sauce had a ting to it and was really good and plenty, I mean plenty of lamb/beef through the whole wrap. That never happens. Gyro House is worth the stop when you are in these parts, you don’t need to be fiending at 2 in the morning. Enjoy.

Walk in, and you’re greeted with such friendly people, you’re thinking where am I? Driving on 82nd, this place is not hard to miss. I was actually intrigued by their signage. Decided to stop by, and grab lunch for 2. Ordered a couple of lamb gyros to go with their circle fries and a soda. Spent just under $ 20, which was pretty reasonable for 2. When I got home, I didn’t realize how incredibly massive, these gyros are. Delicious and on point with flavor. Next time, we could probably just split one and leave out the fries. Worth it, if you’re ever on 82nd!

We had heard about this place through an online neighborhood forum. We are very familiar with Middle Eastern food not only from restaurants but home cooked as well. We ordered the baba ganoush plate with the lamb and the hummus plate with the chicken. It was a lot of food for $ 18 but I managed to eat the entire lamb plate. The chicken was excellent well seasoned cooked perfectly. The lamb was also very tasty in traditional, cut from a large chunk on a spit. Service was friendly and helpful. I felt the baba ganoush was just perfect a nice balance of smokiness and tanginess. My date however felt it could have been a little more smoky. The hummus was very creamy, and that was a little unusual, and honestly we both felt it was a little bland. We politely commented about the hummus so creamy and were informed that in fact the owners make this traditionally by soaking garbanzo beans for 3 days rather than what most other restaurants do which is to just purchase canned garbanzo beans and smashing or blending them up. That’s the way we do it at home too. This is an excellent small little family run restaurant and we highly recommend it and look forward to returning.

Just as good as the location on the west side. This location is slightly smaller. You order at the counter, get your own drink from the machine, and there are approximately 8 tables(more if you separate the small ones). Their menu is slightly smaller here, but the staples are still there(including the amazing hummus… with lamb!). So glad they came to the east side. Love it!
