Apparently, Unilocal doesn’t know that Wrap Delight CLOSED in 2011. After Baguette Express closed in 2010, this small banh mi shop tried AND failed to attract customers with an expanded menu of tacos and burritos(that was a dumb idea), in order to survive. Obviously, that didn’t work out. Although they had more dining space than Saigon Sandwiches, it was always empty. Their biggest problem was not being open during normal hours. On most afternoons when I visited or walked by, they had a «will be back soon» or «will be back at X time» note on the door. But nobody showed, when I came back after the posted time. So I wasn’t happy for always wasting my time, and took them out of my lunch rotation for good long ago. WD was the only banh mi shop I know that had a website. But I suspect that it was created by a customer, because they didn’t seem to know about it and it was always outdated.

Oh man, Wrap Delight is CLOSED. The windows are covered with newspaper, but there’s a handwritten sign that says they’re «closed for remodeling.» Not sure that’s true because I haven’t seen any activity. I hope it’s true.

I do not understand why is it SO hard for Asian businesses to stay true to their operating hours. I called this place around 545pm and asked them what time do they close because I’m standing outside their shop and it’s completely gated up. A lady answered the phone and said«Oh we normally close at 630p but we decided to close early today.» W T F!!! Well…you definately lost me as a customer. You were last resort anyways because my main intention was to catch Saigon Sandwiches before they closed. So still… your lost.

Wrap Delight’s bahn mis are stuffed with over pickled, over sweetened carrots… all I taste is the carrots. Also — its never open on time.

I want to try every banh mi place until I find«the one» This place is pretty close to the top, but I want to try a few more. I have had Saigon Sandwiches and I was underwhelmed and was sad since it got such great reviews. I liked this place better because the lady in the front was super nice and friendly and gave me extra jalapeños. Her English was great so there were no language barriers like at Saigon. Yummy spring rolls and places to sit! I get my usual combination and it was yummy in my tummy.

Came here because Saigon Sandwich is remodeling. That was the only reason I came here and after eating, will never be back. There are a lot more choices compared to Saigon, so I got the roast pork to compare. The meat tasted funny and not in a good way. $ 3.25 down the drain.

One the plus side, this was one of the cheapest meals I’ve had in SF. I’ve been spending time at the main library for a research project, and getting a decent quick bite close by is challenging. So WD is a great option. That said my banh mi wasn’t awesome. It was actually really greasy, completely drowning out the freshness of the veggies. Guess I got what I paid for-decent and convenient.

«Roach Wraps» as I affectionately call it, is a gem on the Larkin Lunch Strip. Don’t be put off by its smoky interior, slum like décor, or its lack of clientele while Saigon Sandwiches and Lee’s have a 20 minute wait. This place puts out a full menu of pretty decent food for cheap. I had a $ 3.50 chicken burrito that was packed to the gills with meat, salsa, nuclear green guac, and sour cream. It is not the best burrito of your life, but for the price of what you paid for your soy-hip-mocha-frappilato in the morning, it ain’t bad. I also grabbed a combo banh mi and it was loaded with well roasted meat. Who cares if it’s mostly bushmeat? This is my new go-to spot!

Because my classmates decided they are cooler by bringing their own lunches, I did a quick search on Unilocal for a cheap eat close by. I had tried a Vietnamese sandwich somewhere on the other side of the area, so that is the only other time I can compare this to. And I chose this place for that reason – to try out other Vietnamese sandwiches. I tried the BBQ Pork for $ 3.25. It was about 8 inches long, which I’m guessing is standard for these things. Stuffed with sticks of carrots, the sandwich was lined with strips of BBQ pork. If you agree to get it spicy, you will get two slices of raw jalapeño. The bread was not crunchy enough to scatter shrapnel all over the table, but it was hard enough to make my jaw numb by the end of the first half sandwich(half of «wich» were carrots). Speaking of tables, you get some metal folding chairs and a wooden plank suspended on the hallway as your dine-in option. You get 2 of those long napkins from phở places with your basket by default. I asked for more, and I got 2 more. Efficient business practice since 2 napkins do the job if you’re desperate enough to ask! I even kept the one I didn’t use! sweet man i love collecting napkins, and my bag had none at the time The sandwich was A-OK as the 3-star rating says because it didn’t taste bad at all, but my jaw is still numb after 2 hours. I assume all the bread there is like this(or was for that day). I also like meat to be the main part of my sandwiches, and considering that this was 25 cents more than the other one I had(maybe because of the extra carrots), I can’t see myself deliberately returning here.

Hello Grandma Wrap Delight, You know I love your little sandwich/Asian Candy/assorted whatchamacalit store. For over a year now, I’ve relied on you to feed me quick and healthier Vietnamese fastfood during my always hectic workday. I’ve bought countless Steamed Fish Banh-Mi, fresh rice rolls with peanut sauce and boxes of ginger candies from you. Instead of going to Saigon, I go to you since Saigon gets enough business. But what’s up?!! Today, I was beyond starving, ran from Civic Center to grab a package of your usually fresh spring rolls. When I got to my office, I bit into a hard as a cardboard rice paper wrapper. It means that your rolls were old, stale and not fresh anymore. So hard that I took the prawns and noodles out and ate them like a vermicelli dish! Please, Grandma WD, if you read your Unilocal reviews, make sure that what you sell us starving working people are fit to keep us going for the rest of the day. Don’t worry, this review will go back to 4 stars soon since you will see my starving face again at your store ordering a Steamed Fish Cake Banh Mi. No jalapenos, please. And I am sure I will enjoy every bite. But I am not so sure if I’ll try your fresh springrolls again soon. Take care, Annoyed and Starving Civic Center Employee.

I wrestled with my internal demons again(the ones that told me to just go to Saigon Sandwiches, that I would experience regret if I went anywhere else) and finally tried Wrap Delight. Things looked promising — the run down interior, the random assortment of snacks, steamed buns, spring rolls and the handwritten menu. They have more varieties of banh mi than Saigon Sandwiches. * BBQ Pork &BBQ chicken banh mi($ 3.25). I liked the chewy bread, bread to fillings ratio, and the abundance of sweet, crunchy pickled carrots and daikon. The meat was too salty(too much soy sauce in the marinade?) and the chicken was dry. Cilantro and jalapenos were included, along with a pleasing thin smear of pâté. Not bad but the meat was a definite weakness. I did experience regret but I think I’ve been to every banh mi place in the Tenderloin now, so I can finally go to Saigon Sandwiches without wondering about the other banh mi places. Cash only

Wrap Delight is better than Saigon Sandwich? I refuse to believe it. Visit #1: Sandwiches to the ballpark. Pork Combo Banh Mi: Love the cooked slices of pork and steamed pork. Generous layer of pâté. The bread was thick and crunchy. The carrots were not very pickled or sweet. Overall, a solid sandwich but slightly lacking in flavor. BBQ Chicken Banh Mi: The chicken was sweet with a honey-like glaze. Really enjoyed the flavor but the meat was fairly dry. Steamed Pork Bun: Love! A hefty steamed bun filled with minced pork, noodles and egg. So good! Visit #2: Quick lunch at the office. Pork Combo Banh Mi: Wanted to see if eating it fresh tastes any different. Nope. Except the sliced pork was warm. Great to know it’s consistent. Cons: (-) Dark dingy place. (-) Confusing menu. There is a variety of sandwiches, but most items are similar which makes it difficult to choose. (-) Price. Their online menu says their sandwiches are under $ 3. But most are now over $ 3. Pros: (+) No lines. During my 2nd visit, I was in and out of there in 3 minutes. (+) The Steamed Pork Bun of course! Conclusion: Wrap Delight is great for a banh mi quick fix. But Saigon Sandwich is still the one for me.

I have been trying to hold off on this place for fear that the lunch lines will get long, but it is too good to keep secret! This place is HANDS-DOWNTHEBESTVIETNAMESESANDWICHINSF! Seriously, Saigon Sandwiches is overrated. Everything is better quality — the bread is divine(soft with the edges a little crispier), the veggies taste great with the right amount of salt, spice, and vinegar. All of that with less of the starchy sauce so it tastes less processed and more like a fresh sandwich(some people like their sandwich doused in the sauce, but I don’t. I think this is the MAINDIFFERENCE between Saigon and this place — Saigon overloads on the sauce while Wrap Delight doesn’t). They can also cater to events, so you can order like 75 sandwiches at a time. You can customize your sandwich too, so if you want less meat and more veggies(or vice versa), just say so. I can’t even think of going anywhere else. The sign isn’t very big, but you’ll see it right on Larkin between Turk and Golden Gate across from the Federal Govt building. The sign says«Vietnamese Sandwiches» in big letters. Who cares that’s it in the TL — good food is good food! Highly recommend!

It’s a sketchy little joint in a sketchy hood. Thie various sammies(like BBQ pork or chicken) come with cilantro and sliced carrots on a warmed up roll. I tell the little mama behind the counter to just keep those veggies for the next dude, I just want the protein(keep your jokes to yourself). She just smiles a toothless grin and turns her back to me(wherein she no doubt adds more protein, via nostril, to my sammie) Cheap, fast, linoleum floors, fluorescent lights, Muni fast passes, odd Asian desserts from Hostess(???). This place is at it’s enigmatic best. Ya feel me?

I adore petite, friendly, elderly asian ladies who run restaurants. I adore them even more when the food is good and cheap. And I think I adore them the most when the website for their restaurant looks like it is stuck in 1997( ). There is not a wrap to be found, but instead you’ll find a good tofu Vietnamese sandwich and very good shrimp rolls. Both at rock bottom prices.

The lady behind the counter here is always friendly and super-quick. $ 3 chicken sandwich, $ 3.25 for chicken-pork combo. My default lunch stop(twice a week, sometimes more) when I’m between classes at Hastings. A word of warning. The jalapenos this place gets are no joke. If you say spicy, you are getting spicy.

It scares me to think just how many of these vietnamese sandwiches I’ve eaten lately. I guess since I can’t stop eating them I’ll just talk about it here which somehow validates me eating them every other day. This place is my lowest rating yet, but I’ll visit again very soon because I know it’ll be better now that I’ve had a practice run. These restaurants don’t have in depth menus letting you know what’s on their sandwiches, it’s a learning experience. In this case the sauce for«the vegetarian with tofu» was a really good BBQ sauce, but there just wasn’t enough used. The veggies were good as was the bread, and if I get my hands on more of that sauce that sandwich will be top notch. I need to say extra sauce, way more cilantro/jalapeños and it’ll be on. I’m sure I’ll be bumping this soon, embarassingly it’ll probably be tomorrow because like I said these sandwiches are addictive. I need to research these things, maybe they’re technically narcotics. Oh well, as far as an addiction goes at least it’s food and not heroin right?

I was disappointed in the banh mi at Wrap Delight. They definitely have their lunch business down and the line moves very quickly, but darn it, my BBQ chicken banh mi was kinda blah. First of all, there were way too many pickled carrots and no daikon or cucumbers. Lots of jalapenos, which I love, but the carrots drowned everything out. They also have a vegetarian option that’s not on the menu. A woman behind me ordered it with tofu.

I know your banh mi is good but man, I had a hankerin for some spring rolls. Since i’m now allergic to shrimp(tragic — i know) I opted for their tofu veggie spring rolls. The chicken was tempting me, but what turned me over to the tofu veggie spring rolls was that the tofu one comes with the peanut hoisin sauce whereas the chicken spring rolls came with fish sauce. So the rolls are of good size, the tofu fresh as well as the rice paper wrap — it was moist and not hard and dry like most places who have this stuff sitting out. The peanut hoisin was great too. A little on the runny side, but still delicious with a hint of coconut in it. They also have chips, candy, sodas etc etc but stick with the Viet stuff. Oh yeah, they also had computer printers for sale — $ 25. wth! hahahha
