Subway is a siren singing her beautiful song from on a rock, luring sailors to their watery deaths. Well, in this case, a sandwich shop in Rathmines, wafting that lovely baking smell out onto the street, luring customers in to, well, their lunch. Unfortunately, the sandwiches never quite live up to the aroma, but they are quite nice, the best of the bunch being the meatball sub. I have never quite gotten the«extras» that you can add to your meal, in particular the cookie. It’s fine, you don’t to chips, but don’t try to palm us off with biscuits.

I was always anti-subway, but then I had an Italian sub. O.M.G. It is delicious, I’d even be tempted to have a foot long. They do a sub of the day which is usually something nice and just € 2.95 — deal. They also have a loyalty card. Yum. Just one word of warning: avoid lunchtime and school boys.

The subway near the Spire on O’Connell street Dublin is wickedly handy for me. It is open by sun rise which I find really useful as I am usually going home around then. The morning staff are friendly and helpful. The breads are fresh and delicious, but what rocks my boat is the herb n cheese Italian bread. The sub of day is always good value and tasty. The Spicy Beef sub is superb as is the spicy Italian. Keep away from the meatballs-they are too tasty-its hard not to go back for more! It dosn’t always have to be fancy schmancy — cheese and ham with salad plays a blinder on the taste buds also. All in all money well spent!

Ahh Subway. The giant American chain that came over to our fair Isle to kick the asses of our little Irish contemporaries… aka O’Briens etc We all know what Subway is — basically a sandwich place that offers a variety of hot or cold subs. In more recent times they’ve introduced wraps, salads and a ‘snack’ menu but if I were you I’d just stick to a sub. Ordering a salad in a sandwich joint is like ordering soup at a steakhouse. It’s never going to be as good as their speciality! What I like about Subway is that they cater to everyone — those who want something hearty(a meatball sub), vegetarians or those on low fat diets(they have a range of 6 low calorie alternatives). Also, in these credit crunching times they do great deals — like the sub of the day for less than € 3, which changes on a daily basis.

Subway is evil because they without a doubt deliberatlely waft the smell of the delicious subs you just cant afford all over the inside as well as outside of the shop. The reason I dont get subway often is not because I dont love it but bacause all I want is a lettuce and turkey sub but its the same price as all the other mad fancy ones with all different cheeses and millions of vegetables thrown on top and you feel like your paying for it even when you dont want it so you feel like you should get some more stuff and then you dont even like it. One thing I never understood about subway is those plain unappealing cookies that for some reason people buy just because they’re there(isnt the point of subway to be healthy?)

I love Subway; they do the best big sandwiches ever, it’s a healthy fast food alternative. Subway offers fresh sandwiches and salads, my favorite is the meatball sub. They also offer meal deals which is good if you’re on a working lunch or a student. Subway also offers the sub of the day, at £1.99 for a 6 inch sandwich with different meat filling each day. The service at Subway is fast despite the long queues, the staff are always friendly and clean. You always get a choice of freshly baked breads before you choose your filling, so choice is unlimited here. Great place, service and food!

I go to the subway sandwich shop in Rathmines every day as I find it handy as it is just down the road from where I work. I buy the sub of the day most days which is a very reasonable € 2.99. Monday: Turkey and ham, Tuesday: Meatball Marinara, Wednesday: Turkey, Thursday: Italian BMT, Friday: Tuna. My favourite sub of the day would be Turkey and ham which is quite nice with light mayonaise. There are many different breads you can have which would be Italian, Hearty Italian, Italian herbs and cheese, honey and oats and Wheat. My favourite would have to be wheat or Hearty Italian. They have many different salads to add to your sub and a variety of dressings to choose, from honey and mustard to ranch sauce. I have the sub of the day on wheat bread Monday to Thursday as they are very reasonable and very delicous and on Friday’s I have steak and cheese which is very delicious on Hearty Italian bread with Barbeque sauce. In Subway they have meal deals where you can add a drink, cookie or crisps to you meal for a few euro extra. If you wanted to make your sub into a salad or wrap, you can do that for an extra 30c. Also if you were really hungry and the 6inch sub was not enough for you, you can make it a footlong(12inches) for a very reasonable extra € 2.20.
